    Responsibilities

    This Sr. Systems Engineer’s main function will be to act as a Service Virtualization Engineer. Their responsibilities include developing, building and managing service virtualization across multiple test environments with high complexity. The candidate will work closely with the application and testing teams. They will assess, solution, and implement Service Virtualization technologies in order to remove downstream and external dependencies from a client's application development and testing processes, reducing cycle time and improving software quality. Work with the Service Virtualization Center of Excellence’s (CoE’s), focused on industrializing this capability and driving adoption across the enterprise as teams look to integrate Service Virtualization into their SDLC process. They will guide others to evaluate, develop, customize, install, and implement functionally appropriate, technically sound, and well-integrated systems in accordance with Customer requirements, and organizational methodologies and standards.  Mentors others in working with vendors to respond to production problems and implement immediate resolution efforts across technology areas.

     

    Work Activities/Context

    • While also guiding others, responsible for vendor management, partner governance, and oversight to deploy systems which are complete, designed and managed over life cycles.
    • (Technical solutions)  Proactively identify problems, plan solutions, recommend software and systems, and coordinate developments in an orderly manner to meet business requirements.  Including but not limited to: monitor and test performance and capacity for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with partners to implement fixes.
    • Responsible for providing innovative solutions to proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability in order to resolve escalations of high complexity.
    • In collaboration with Enterprise Architecture, sets the platform strategy and road map.
    • In collaboration with Enterprise Architecture, proactively identifies opportunities to adopt emerging industry trends in area of responsibility.
    • Meet commitments and deliverables as related to leading projects and/or project oversight.
    • Provide technical development, mentoring, and guide the work of others.
    • Adapts existing methods and procedures to create possible alternative solutions to complex problems.
    • Coordinate with development and testing teams to ensure the virtual services and VSEs provide full test coverage starting from unit testing phase through to SQA/System and UAT testing phases
    • Provides full governance of the virtual services and the VSEs, and supports all service consumers across the company
    • Maintains the Virtual Service Lifecycle Governance activities, including the Virtual Service Catalog, to ensure virtual services exist for all possible use-cases.
    • Collaborate with consumers and providers on development of requirements for services to be virtualized.
    • Perform hands on Service Virtualization and configuration setup for services to be virtualized.
    • Provide consultation in Service Virtualization, evolving the Service Virtualization CoE and the practice.
    • Interact with testers, developers and architects on collecting requirements, payloads, and other data.
    • Coordinate with Infrastructure teams to create, release, and manage multiple on-demand virtual environments (VSEs).
    • Coordinate with development and testing teams to ensure the virtual services and VSEs provide full test coverage starting from unit testing phase through to SQA/System and UAT testing phases.
    • Interact with testers, developers and architects on collecting requirements, payloads, data for service testing and service virtualization.
    • Thorough understanding of SOA/WOA principles.
    • Strict adherence to architectural and development best practices including the use of standard architectures, proper use of code management, document design and design artifacts and conduct design/code reviews.

    Qualifications

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

    • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education required. 
    • Must be at least 18 years of age. 
    • Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986. 

    Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Systems, or equivalent formal training required.

    Experience:

    • Minimum five years of work experience in System Engineering (or equivalent knowledge base) required.
    • Minimum 2 years as technical or team lead preferred
    • 3 + years experience supporting a Service Virtualization product such as CA LISA Service Virtualization, ServiceV Pro, IBM Rational Virtualization/IBM Green Hat, SOAP UI preferred
    • 3 + years experience creating virtualized service models, scripts for testing, and test data preparation for Service Virtualization script execution preferred.
    • 3 + years experience conducting Service Virtualization verification – ensuring virtual services accuracy, by testing XML request and response data preferred.
    • Demonstrated professional experience developing Web interfaces using JAVA, JSP, and Servlets preferred.
    • 2 + years experience developing PL/SQL scripts- DB-Procedures, triggers etc., preferred.
    • 2 + years experience validate services using SOAP UI and CA LISA by testing XML request and response data preferred
    • Ability to demonstrate a thorough understanding of synchronous and asynchronous transactions (JMS, TIBCO, MQ series etc.) preferred.
    • Experience virtualizing protocols using LISA Virtualize (REST, SOAP, MQ, JDBC and Java objects) preferred.
    • Demonstrated experience performance testing services using CA LISA, SOAP UI preferred.
    • Development & testing experience with ESB/SOA technologies such as TIBCO Business Works preferred.

    Skills/Abilities/Knowledge/Work Style:

    • Ability to analyze and resolve problems of high complexity, requiring expert knowledge of hardware components, systems, software, and networking technologies.
    • Ability to mentor/guide others to perform troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, solution development, and implementation within specific technology areas.
    • Expert partnering, negotiation, and communication skills in working with Business Customers and Technology support.
    • Expert knowledge of software development methodologies, practices, concepts, and technologies obtained through formal training and or work experience.
    • Expert knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
    • Able to prioritize effectively and take on multiple concurrent assignments, whether administrative or project related, while maintaining a successful level of completion in all responsible self-work and/or the work of others.
    • Able to develop, present, and effectively communicate complex ideas and strategies in both technical and user-friendly language to a variety of audiences.
    • Additional job skills include, but are not limited to: excellent project management skills; excellent written, oral and interpersonal communications skills; and excellent analytical/creative problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-based, Customer service oriented environment with a high regard for hospitality.
