    Continuous Improvement Intern – Corporate Strategy

     

    As a member of the Continuous Improvement (CI) Team, the Intern will support the CI experts with facilitating Enterprise Level lean six sigma projects to help streamline existing processes, or design new processes that will allow the organization to achieve improved performance.

    Responsibilities

    The Continuous Improvement Intern will assist this department with a variety of responsibilities including but not limited to:

    • Assist with Continuous Improvement project portfolio tracking
    • Assist Black Belts in tracking action items for all CI projects to completion and implementation
    • Assist Black Belts in QuickBase application updates and design
    • Assist in posting communications in internal CI Connections page
    • Assist in project Team workshops, logistics and general support
    • Design, generate and/or support program executive reporting
    • Coordinate and support CI Community of Practice Meetings
    • Develop content in PowerPoint to support all CI activities, meetings and workshops
    • Assist in coordinating training registrations, class approvals, and class support logistics

    Qualifications

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

    • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education required. 
    • Must be at least 18 years of age
    • Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.

    EDUCATION:

    • Candidates must be currently enrolled in a fulltime Bachelor’s Degree program with a Major/Minor in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Strategy, Consulting, Statistics, Finance or related degree program.
    • Minimum of Junior level by hours (60+) at the start of the internship preferred
    • Maintained 3.0 or above cumulative GPA

    SKILLS/ABILITIES/KNOWLEDGE/WORK STYLE:

    • Strong project management skills (tracking tasks, task dependencies, action items, overall timelines and deadlines) preferred.
    • Exposure to Quickbase preferred
    • Knowledge with concepts of Lean and Six Sigma required
    • Visio process mapping experience is a plus.
    • Experience developing power point presentations required. 
    • Must have strong problem solving skills, including the ability to gather facts, conduct analysis, and translate data into meaningful insights.
    • Experience working with predictive and prescriptive statistical methods preferred.
    • Experience with a process improvement project preferred.
    • Tableau experience preferred.
    • Experience with statistical analysis tools such as Minitab, SigmaXL preferred. 

    Location and Pay:

     

    Pay of $15.00 per hour + flight privileges

     

    This position is located in Dallas, Texas at the Southwest Airlines Headquarters.
