    Responsibilities

    The Station Services Office (SSO) supports all front line administrative functions of the Ground Operations business. SSO Employees support day to day operations through the provisions of high quality internal customer service, cross departmental collaboration, and routine compliance to defined standards and procedures.

     

    The Analyst position exists in the Performance Support function of the SSO to assist with the development of cost effective measures for running Ground Operations. The person will be responsible for analyzing data to improve the operational performance of LAX through thought leadership, utilizing measurement, prediction and planning. The overall function focuses on continuous improvements in the operational processes across LAX with a focus on and balance between cost savings and reliability improvement.

     

    If selected for the position, you will support the following functions:

     

    • Project analysis – gather/analyze data and provide recommended actions to be taken on larger company wide cost initiatives
    • Assist with test design and data collection
    • Collect data by using time and motion studies
    • Assist with the identification of areas to improve operational performance and business process through an understanding of Customer insights, future needs, and root cause.
    • Assist with change management and communications development.
    • Attend cross-functional meeting with other operational departments.
    • Risk mitigation and lessons learned research, including the development of hypothesis for future solves and improvement
    • Application of data analytics, visualization of data using tools such as Excel or Tableau and summarization and communication of findings to relevant audience
    • Application of data analytics, statistics and predictive modeling in order to understand operational impacts of proposed business decisions

    Qualifications

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

     

    High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education required. 

     

    Must be at least 18 years of age

     

    Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986

     

     

    EDUCATION:

     

    Major/Minor in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, Data Analytics/Data Science, Operations Research, or related degree?

     

    Coursework Preferred: Data Analytics/Statistics, Operations Management

     

    Minimum Junior level preferred 

     

    To be eligible must be currently enrolled as a full time student (minimum 12 credit hours)

     

    Maintained 2.75 or above cumulative GPA

     

     SKILLS/ABILITIES/KNOWLEDGE/WORK STYLE:

     

    • Knowledge and application of Six Sigma or Lean methodology preferred
    • Knowledge and application of project management methodologies is preferred.
    • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and complete assignments with tight deadlines
    • Problem solving ability with strong written/verbal communications skills
    • Ability to work independently and willingness to function as part of a Team
    • Understanding of airline operations preferred
    • Strong use of PowerPoint and Excel required (Pivot Tables, Modeling, etc.)
    • Quick learner, self-motivated, team oriented
    • Experience using some of the following tools: Tableau, Quikbase

    PAY:

     

    $18.00 hourly + flight privileges
