    The primary role of Supply Chain Management (SCM) is to collaborate with Internal Stakeholders and Suppliers to identify cost savings opportunities, strategically source high quality products and services and develop the strategies to allow for a best in class supply chain.

    SCM Technology is comprised of trusted advisors sought out for our expertise in market analysis, sourcing, contracting and negotiations of technology related goods and services. The SCM Technology goal is to drive for consistent, timely and informed decision making in the sourcing process to maximize value for Southwest Airlines.


    The SCM Technology Team’s focus is to improve strategic alignment, synchronize value chain operations, increase velocity, minimize costs, improve level of Customer Service, view and monitor market trends, measure and monitor key performance indicators and identify opportunities for continuous process improvement.


    The Supply Chain Management Technology Intern will assist the Department with a variety of responsibilities including, but not limited to:

    • Ensure accurate tracking, researching, measuring, reporting and evaluating Supplier performance
    • Review contractual agreements
    • Draft Non-Disclosure Agreements
    • Participate in Stakeholder and Supplier calls and meetings (e.g. Requests for Proposal, Business Reviews, etc.)
    • Contribute to scorecarding, quality control, invoice reconciliation, rate analysis, maintenance renewals and market research
    • Identify and implement efficiencies with procure to pay and vendor management processes
    • Engage and communicate with Internal Customers


    Basic Qualifications:

    High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education required.


    Must be at least 18 years of age.


    To be eligible must be currently enrolled as a fulltime student at time of application (minimum of 12 credit hours)


    Sophomores or Juniors preferred. Please include your graduation date on your resume.


    Minimum of a 3.0 or above cumulative GPA


    Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986




    Progress towards degree in Supply Chain Management, Information Technology Management, Systems Engineering, Business Administration, Business Analytics, Accounting, Finance, or related degree.



    • Excellent attention to detail, organizational and time management skills
    • Self-starter, critical thinker and innovator of ideas that could increase value for SWA
    • Aptitude to read contract language; familiarity with different contract types
    • Strong analysis and communication (written and verbal) skills
    • Strong Microsoft Office skills preferred (Excel pivot tables, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
    • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and complete assignments with tight deadlines
    • Ability to work independently and willingness to function as part of a Team
