    Responsibilities

    DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW:

     

    Perform continuing analysis of the effectiveness of the Maintenance Program in order to satisfy the requirements of an FAA-Approved Reliability Program.

     

    Collect, integrate, analyze, and present maintenance data in order to provide insightful and actionable information to Tech Ops Leadership to make better and more informed business decisions.

     

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    • Perform data collection, validation, and classification on data elements required by the Reliability Program and follow standard procedures to analyze data.
    • Perform root cause analysis on data of limited scope to measure aircraft/fleet performance for safety, reliability, and economic impact, and identify deficiencies in the Maintenance Program.
    • Work with individuals and groups across Tech Ops to identify and address adverse trends in coordination with direct leaders.
    • Compile, build, and publish monthly Reliability reports.
    • Provide Reliability data, statistics, and analysis to internal and external Customers at an exceptional level of customer service.

    Qualifications

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

     

    High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education required.

     

    Must be at least 18 years of age.

     

    Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.

     

    EDUCATION:

     

    Progress towards a degree with a major/minor in Aviation or Engineering related field.

     

    Minimum junior level.

     

    To be eligible must be currently enrolled as a full-time student (minimum 12 credit hours).

     

    Maintained 3.0 or above cumulative GPA.

     

    Progress towards F.A.A. Airframe & Powerplant license and/or pilot license is preferred.

      

    EXPERIENCE:

     

    Prior analysis of technical data and evaluation to root cause preferred

     

    Projects involving working with large data sets preferred

     

    Experience working individually as well as in a Team environment

      

    SKILLS/ABILITIES/KNOWLEDGE/WORK STYLE:

     

    • Organize and balance multiple concurrent initiatives/assignments while maintaining a high degree of accuracy, attention to detail, and timely delivery.                                                                   
    • Follow standard work instructions; may need decision-making guidance from direct Leaders.
    • Work with direct Leaders to deliver formal written and verbal communication to Customers, Subject Matter Experts, and other Departments in Tech Ops.
    • Learn and understand aircraft and component diagrams, manuals, and other technical or regulatory documents through the Internship.
    • Must be able to visualize, articulate, and condense complex issues into concise, easily understood updates and/or presentations.
    • Effectively manage multiple projects and deliver high quality results under tight time constraints and/or while dealing with competing priorities.
    • Prefer proficiency in communications, data processing, and project management software applications. Examples include Microsoft Office, Alteryx, Tableau, SQL, etc.

    PAY:

     

    $15.00 per hour + flight privileges

     

    This Internship is located in Dallas, Texas at the Southwest Airlines Tech Ops building.
