    Responsibilities

    The Business Consultant of Data Governance is tasked with managing Marketing data as a strategic asset. The role will lead strategic data planning and data accountability efforts, and will manage consistent, purposeful access to Marketing data assets and their context to enable timely decision-making and deliver value to our Customers while protecting our privacy and security commitments.

     

    WORK ACTIVITIES/CONTEXT:

    • Maintain and execute the Marketing Data Governance roadmap.
    • Create a framework of data classification, processes, and standards that ensures that Southwest Marketing data and metadata is managed as a key asset.
    • Develop documentation and coordinate training on Data Governance policies and procedures.
    • Manage access requirements and process requests for access to Customer data.
    • Update Southwest Privacy Policy in coordination with other key stakeholders.
    • Coordinate Data Governance efforts with the Technology Data Governance and Technology Data Security Teams and ensure consistent cross-departmental application of data governance standards and policies
    • Develop & maintain Marketing data maps, tracking data movement
    • Establish performance indicators and quality metrics
    • Develop and recommend preemptive response and communication plans to stakeholders for data quality issues 
    • Evaluate new digital and data partners for compliance with Southwest's overall data strategy; ensure proper data governance is contractually established; and hold internal and external Partners accountable to data standards
    • Help define roles and responsibilities related to data governance and ensure clear accountability for stewardship of the company’s principal information assets
    • Identify evolving business needs, and serve as a thought-leader on emerging Data Governance and Privacy trends and issues, monitoring and proactively surfacing risks, threats, new technology and tools.
    • Must be able to meet any physical ability requirements listed on this description.
    • May perform other job duties as directed by Employee’s Leaders.

     

    Qualifications

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

    • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education required.
    • Must be at least 18 years of age. 
    • Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.

    EDUCATION:

    • Bachelor's degree required
    • Advanced degree preferred


    WORK EXPERIENCE:

    • Minimum 6 years experience in related field required, or minimum 4 years experience with an advance degree

    SKILLS/ABILITIES/KNOWLEDGE/WORK STYLE:

    • Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines.
    • Highest personal and professional integrity and strong work ethic. 
    • Experience working with databases and large data sets required. SQL experience preferred.
    • Digital and/or Mar-Tech experience desired
    • Strong Excel, PowerPoint and Word skills required
    • Strategic thinking skills; able to identify and drive process improvements and create strategic roadmaps
    • Analytical, fact-based approach to problem solving; ability to break down complex problems and projects into manageable goals
    • Communicates regularly, listens intently, questions appropriately, and articulates clearly in both written and verbal formats
    • Experience creating and delivering impactful presentations
    • Collaborative approach to working with stakeholders. Track record of establishing and maintaining constructive working relationships with other departments to influence business decisions
    • Intellectually curious, technologically savvy, and solutions-oriented

    OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines.
