Responsibilities

The Flight Operations Safety Team is responsible for the management of all Flight Operations Safety Programs. In this role, you may assist with daily event review, data validation, database building and support, as well as communication with various work groups. You may also assist with special projects to support the Fatigue Risk Management Program, Aviation Safety Action Partnership, Flight Data Analysis Program, Safety Assurance Program, or various other voluntary safety reporting programs.  This role will also be involved in a variety of other corporate wide interface activities within the Department.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Duties may include assisting with projects, data research and analysis, presentation development support, and meetings that support the role of Flight Operations Safety.
  • Self-motivated sourcing of project / analysis support needs for all Flight Operations Safety Programs.
  • May be asked to assist or work closely with other Flight Operations Groups, such as Training, Procedures, Standards, Electronic Flight Bag, etc.
  • Must adhere to all Southwest Airlines corporate policies including the protection and security of confidential and proprietary information
  • Possible travel involved

Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

 

High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education required.

 

Must be at least 18 years of age.

 

Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.

 

EDUCATION:

  • Minimum junior level
  • To be eligible must be currently enrolled as a full time student (minimum 12 credit hours).
  • Maintained a 2.75 or above cumulative GPA.
  • Progress towards degree in Industrial Safety, Human Factors, Aviation/Aeronautics, Aeronautical Science, Flight Technology, or related field?
  • Coursework in Aviation Safety, Safety Management Systems, Technical Writing, or Human Factors, preferred.

 

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:

  • FAA Airman Certificates, Ratings, and Flight Hours are preferred
  • Aviation related job experience preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required
  • Technical writing experience preferred
  • A working knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications, including the use of, querying, and data analysis in Microsoft Excel is preferred
  • Experience with data organization & visualization tools is preferred (Tableau, Alteryx, etc.)
  • Database skills and knowledge preferred
  • Participation in trade/industry organizations, community involvement, and/or school clubs preferred
  • Knowledgeable of human factors is preferred
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills required

TIME COMMITMENT:

 

Full-time - 40 hours per week

 

PAY:

 

$15.00 hourly + flight privileges
