Responsibilities

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist in various projects including:  Projects, products and services across the full Innovation process (from the airport to the plane and pre & post travel experience online), Product Development, Industry Analysis, and Vendor/Supplier Management. Intern will be asked to help with innovation projects in various stages from concept ideation all the way to prototype or test phases.

 

Attend cross-functional meetings.

 

Work closely with other Departments within Southwest Airlines.

 

Assist in collecting data and/or updating and reporting out dashboards for projects or tests.

 

Some travel possible (if time allows).

 

Coordinate communication efforts and some supporting administrative needs as necessary.

Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

 

High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education required.

 

Must be at least 18 years of age.

 

Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.

 

EDUCATION:

 

Progress towards degree in Marketing, Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Business, Social Science, Advertising, or Communications.

 

Minimum junior level.

 

To be eligible must be currently enrolled as a full time student (minimum 12 credit hours).

 

Maintained 3.0 or above cumulative GPA.

 

EXPERIENCE:

 

Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications including: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and Adobe creative suite preferred.

  

Involvement in innovation / entrepreneurship competition preferred.

 

Leadership experience preferred.

 

Experience with Human Centered Design and design thinking methodologies preferred. 

 

Experience with UI/UX design development preferred. 

 

Experience with product or industrial design is a plus. 

 

Some Graphic Design/Online Marketing Development experiences a plus.

 

Experience managing projects from conception to completion is preferred.

 

Coursework in product marketing, innovation, strategy, or entrepreneurship is preferred.

 

Must be willing to contribute during brainstorming sessions and actively participate from concept to execution.

Good written and verbal communication skills.

 

Ability to work independently and the willingness to function as a part of a team.

 

Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and complete assignments with tight deadlines.

 

Ability to work in a fast paced environment and be a self-starter.
