The Marketing – Paid Media Intern will work on the Media Team. The Media Team sits within our Marketing Department and focuses on paid media opportunities both nationally and within local markets. This Team communicates to a wide variety of audiences through many different mediums including television, digital, radio, social, and print. They work closely with each group in the Marketing Department to meet strategic objectives. They also work closely with groups outside of Marketing, including Corporate Communication.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform market research on industry trends, consumer preferences, and Southwest media/social mentions. Compile and analyze data, and present findings back to Team and/or Marketing Department.
Exposure to paid digital media capabilities on both a national and local scale.
Communicate and collaborate with agencies, vendors, and partners (e.g. NBC Universal, Facebook, Oath, Pandora, etc.)
Identify and create content for multiple social media channels, and supports the Social Influencer program.
Assist and build strategic initiatives to reach specific audiences.
Collaborate with Team Members to develop media strategy.
Participate in presentations to grow understanding of paid media initiatives.
Some travel (as needed).
Progress towards degree with major/minor in Communications, Journalism, Advertising, Digital Media, or Marketing.
Minimum junior level.
To be eligible must be currently enrolled as a full time student (minimum 12 credit hours.)
Maintained 3.0 or above cumulative GPA.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PPT) and Social Platforms.
Some Marketing experience is a plus.
Previous part-time work experience or previous internship is preferred.
Experience using social media listening/engagement/measurement tools preferred (e.g. Sprinklr, Radian6, Hootsuite, etc.).
Coursework in Media Planning, Media Strategy, or Advertising is preferred.
Must be able to maintain confidential information.
Must be willing to contribute during brainstorming sessions and actively participate from concept to execution.
Membership in an organization or club related to Advertising or Media is preferred.
Must be comfortable presenting to a wide variety of audiences.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and willingness to function as a part of a Team.
Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and complete assignments with tight deadlines.
Ability to read and interpret data to tell a larger story.
Must be detail-oriented.
