Responsibilities

The Operational Strategy & Performance Department is tasked with the responsibility of monitoring, reporting, forecasting and analyzing operational performance of Southwest Airlines and providing clear understanding of Reliability, Productivity, Hospitality and Cost. Additionally, this Department provides strategic vision and project support for initiatives that directly impact the operational performance of the Company.

 

The Operations Insight Team manages the facilitation of the workflow of the company’s Flight Operations & Dispatch Irregularity Reporting systems as well as the company’s Safety Reporting System. It’s done by aggregating data from the frontline reports and feedback and conducting analysis relative to systems and business processes to create quality technical solutions for dissemination to various levels of Leadership. The team also works as project managers for cross-functional operational projects and programs.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Process documentation, including recommending and developing ideas for improvement
  • Project support – gathering stakeholder information, preparing documentation and preparing presentations
  • Risk mitigation and lessons learned research, including the development of hypothesis for future solves and improvement
  • Assists with development and maintenance of data collection tools, specific to reporting

 

 

Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

 

 

High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education required. 

 

Must be at least 18 years of age

 

Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986

 

EDUCATION:

 

Major/Minor in Business, Engineering, Finance, or a Business related degree

 

Coursework Preferred: Computer Science Fundamentals, Programing languages, and related technical studies

 

Minimum Junior level

 

Masters Degree preferred

 

To be eligible must be currently enrolled as a full time student (minimum 12 credit hours)

 

Maintained 2.75 or above cumulative GPA

 

SKILLS/ABILITIES/KNOWLEDGE/WORK STYLE:

  • Strong use of PowerPoint and Excel required (Pivot Tables, Modeling, etc.)
  • Basic knowledge of business analysis, process modeling, and redesign required
  • Understanding of airline operations preferred
  • Experience working in tableau or text mining software preferred
  • Self-starter with a drive for process improvement and innovation is helpful
  • Quick learner, self-motivated, team oriented
  • Ability to stay organized and manage multiple and concurrent assignments under tight deadlines
  • Problem solving ability and strong written/verbal communication skills

PAY:

 

$15.00 hourly + flight privileges
