Responsibilities

GENERAL:

The primary role of Supply Chain Management is to collaborate with Internal Stakeholders and Suppliers to identify cost savings opportunities, strategically sourcing high quality products and services, and develop the best strategies to allow for a best in class supply chain.

The Fuel Supply Chain Management (FSCM) Team advises, informs, and empowers Business Operations to optimize processes, identify new opportunities for automation, and leverage automation to promote best in class Fuel Management activities at Southwest Airlines.

 

The Fuel Automation Intern will assist this department with a variety of responsibilities including, but not limited to:

  • Supports Fuel Supply Chain Management (FSCM) in their implementation, management, and ongoing process optimization of the fuel management technology platform.
  • Performs analysis/research to define project goals, reporting infrastructure and products/projects.
  • Document, analyze, and report required information and data
  • Assists with project management tasks (i.e., status tracking and reporting, meeting facilitation, issue documentation, follow-ups)
  • Assists with development of training plan and materials as part of a larger change management program.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

 

High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education required.

 

Must be at least 18 years of age.

 

To be eligible must be currently enrolled as a fulltime student at time of application (minimum of 12 credit hours)

 

Minimum of Junior level by hours (60+) at the start of the internship

 

Minimum of a 2.75 or above cumulative GPA

 

Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986

 

Education:

 

Progress towards degree in Supply Chain Management, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Statistics, Business Intelligence, or related degree.

 

Skills:

 

  • Basic understanding of root cause, risk analysis, and/or trend analysis.
  • A Supply Chain related internship within the past 12 months preferred
  • Self-starter, critical thinker and innovator of ideas that could lower cost and increase value for SWA
  • Ability to read contract language and excel data sheets for critical analysis.
  • Aviation background and enthusiasm preferred
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and complete assignments with tight deadlines
  • Problem solving ability with strong written/verbal communications skills
  • Ability to work independently and willingness to function as part of a Team

Full-time - 40 hours per week

 

PAY:

$15.00 per hour + flight privileges
