The Marketing – Channel Strategy – Media/Social Intern will work on the Media Team. The Media Team sits within our Marketing Department and focuses on paid media opportunities within Southwest’s local and broader markets. This Team communicates to a wide variety of audiences through mediums such as social media channels, TV commercials, radio spots, cinema, out of home, and print. They work closely with each group in the Marketing Department, especially the Customer Insights Team, which provides them with consumer research to fully support their communication methods. They also work closely with groups outside of Marketing, including the Social Business Team.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform market research on industry trends, consumer preferences, and Southwest media/social mentions. Compile and analyze data, and present findings back to Team and/or Marketing Department.
Create local or broader market profiles.
Communicate and collaborate with agencies, vendors, and partners (e.g. Google, Facebook, SnapChat).
Collaborate with Team Members on campaign development (e.g. cinema campaign).
Create PPT decks about Media Team and industry trends to present in Department meetings or Lunch N’ Learns.
Interacting with Google dashboards and making improvement suggestions.
Identifies and creates content for multiple social media channels, and supports Social Influencer programs.
Some travel (as needed).
Progress towards degree with major/minor in Communications, Journalism, Advertising, Digital Media, or Marketing.
Minimum junior level.
To be eligible must be currently enrolled as a full time student (minimum 12 credit hours.)
Maintained 3.0 or above cumulative GPA.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PPT) and Social Platforms.
Interest in numbers and analyzing data; ability to learn news tools for analyzing data.
Experience using social media listening/engagement/measurement tools preferred.
Media 101 or any Direct Media courses preferred.
Must be able to maintain confidential information.
Must be willing to contribute during brainstorming sessions and actively participate from concept to execution.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and willingness to function as a part of a Team.
Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and complete assignments with tight deadlines.
Must be detail-oriented.
