Responsibilities

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

The Intern will work full-time as a Team member within one of the following areas:  Employment, Leadership Development, Human Resource Business Partner, Talent/Organizational Development, or ACT.

 

Conduct research and handle special projects as assigned by Leadership to support the goals and objectives of Employment or Leadership Development initiatives.

 

Organize materials for meetings, presentations or reports.

 

Assist with special projects and events as requested:

 

Employment: Campus Reach Internship--Onboarding, Talent Development, recruiting efforts, retention, compliance, and compensation.  Potential projects include, but are not limited to: Intern event coordination and planning, recruiting call projects, hiring events, compliance audit data or metrics gathering, etc. Intern will assist various hiring teams within employment such as Campus hiring, full time hiring, and contingent/staff augmentation hiring.

 

Leadership and Organizational Development:  Managers in Training Program (MIT), Emerging Leader Development Program (ELDP), workshops, and training.  Assist in coordination and preparation for the Leadership Development Programs.  Assist in evening planning for major Program events.  Assists with various projects related to Organizational and Talent Development including integrated talent management, career paths, and talent management software applications.

 

Employment Practices Leadership: General employment practices with compliance requirements factored within the work. – Affirmative Action data mining & audit support, ICIMs support, Legal poster maintenance, Employee Accommodations. Potential projects could include: Advanced analytics around the Accommodations/ Career transitions work, Job Description cataloguing, Good Faith Efforts tracking & Analytics for Affirmative Action.

 

Human Resource Business Partner (HRBP): Performance Management, Talent Development, Organization Design, and Employee Engagement.  Potential projects include, but are not limited to: Intern Talent Review support and planning, Employee survey action planning projects, data or metrics gathering, etc.

  

Communicate with outside sources, vendors, Teams, and Internal/External Customers via personal contact, telephone, and written correspondence.

 

Assist with various research and process improvements for Employment or Leadership Development group.

 

Military and Veteran Hiring: Assist with all efforts surrounding Veteran and Military hiring at Southwest Airlines. Potential Military and Veteran specific projects could include: Military and Veteran Career Fairs, Military and Veteran event planning, writing blogs about Southwest Airlines’ efforts regarding Military and Veteran hiring, corresponding and advising Military and Veteran applicants, and communicating externally in the community with Military and Veteran Organizations.

Qualifications

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

 

High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education required.

 

Must be at least 18 years of age.

 

Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.

 

EDUCATION:

 

Progress towards degree, major, or minor in HR Management, Training Development, Learning Technology, Organizational Development, or related field (OR  a minimum of 9 hours completed in HR related coursework).

 

Minimum junior level.

 

Maintained 3.0 or above cumulative GPA.

 

To be eligible must be currently enrolled as a fulltime student (minimum 12 credit hours).

 

EXPERIENCE:

 

Ability to work independently and the willingness to function as a part of a Team.

 

Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and complete assignments with tight deadlines.

 

Experience in Graphic Design, Photoshop, and MS Office preferred.

 

Strong interest in Training or Recruiting as a career is a plus.

 

Ability to lift and move items such as tables and chairs in order to set up and break down classrooms. 

 

Oral and written communication skills.

 

Event planning experience preferred.

 

Previous part-time job or internship experience preferred.

 

Involvement in campus organizations, clubs, or extracurricular activities preferred.

 

Membership in Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) is a plus.

 

Previous Leadership positions are a plus.

PAY:

 

$15.00 hourly + flight privileges

 

This Internship is located in Dallas, Texas at the Southwest Airlines Headquarters building.
